Home Remedies For Food poisoning

Food poisoning is a condition in which a person experiences severe pain and inflammation in stomach and small intestine. It may attack people of any age. The major causes of food poisoning include food allergy, excess intake of alcohol, intake of unhealthy and stale food, etc. It is found that certain food items like meat, fish, and milk products tend to get contaminated very easily. Sometimes these foods in the stores are not fresh and consuming them cause food poisoning.

Food poisoning Home Remedy

Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in a cup of hot water before a meal to prevent acid indigestion.

Add three drops of garlic oil to half a cup of soya oil and rub onto the stomach after food.

Drink a herbal tea of mint, raspberry, camomile and blackberry.

First thing is to avoid solid food completely and drink lot of water or juice. This will be helpful in keeping you hydrated.

Avoid caffeinated, alcoholic or sugary beverages. Instead you can drink diluted sports drink to keep yourself hydrated.

Once vomiting and nausea stops gradually you can start eating solid foods. But make sure that solid foods should easy to digest and plain. The best choice should be among rice, breads, cereals, wheat, potatoes, lean meat and chicken.

The treatment for most cases of food poisoning is simple: Plenty of rest, lots of liquids and bland foods such as mashed potatoes, rice and bread. The BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples and toast)that is used for children with upset stomachs and diarrhea can help ease the symptoms. With proper care, the symptoms should subside within a few days.

Botulism, however, is the exception to the rule and different home remedies for food poisoning are required.

Drink mint essense (available as Pudin Hara or Amritdhara ), 3-4 drops in water, every one hour. Also drink Jaljeera (a mixture of cumin, salt, asafetida and other herbs) 2-3 times.

Avoid foods that are fried, smoked or salty as well as raw vegetables, pastries, preserves, candies, alcohol and spices and condiments.

Mix 5-6 chopped basil ( tulsi ) leaves, 1/4 tsp sea salt, and some black pepper in 3 Tbsp of curd, and eat it. Repeat this 4 times a day for one week.
