Halitosis, a common problem among dental patients, is an unpleasant odour emanating from the oral cavity. The main origin of all bad breath odours emanate from the mouth itself, although non-oral parts such as the upper and lower respiratory tracts, the gastrointestinal tract, and some diseases involving the kidneys or the liver may also be the reason for it.

Halitosis Home Remedies Are:

Regularly brush teeth after meals and before sleeping and floss your teeth regularly.

Clean your sinuses: Since bad breath can be caused by any number of sinus problems, some people get relief by “washing” out the area inside your nose where the sinuses drain.

Halitosis diet: Patients suffering from halitosis should take a well-balanced diet consisting of seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables, and fruits, with emphasis on raw and cooked vegetables, and fruits.

Guava: Chewing a very green Guava which is almost raw, helps in curing halitosis fast.

All fruit and vegetable juices are beneficial in the Home remedy for halitosis and should be taken liberally by those suffering from this disorder.

Juices from fruits like apple, grape-fruit (chakatora), lemon and pineapple, and vegetables like tomato, carrot and celery are especially beneficial.

The person suffering from Halitosis (bad breath) should take drink sufficient amount of water because people who are not drinking sufficient water will get constipation which will lead to the halitosis problem.

Patients suffering from halitosis must take a balanced diet comprising of seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables, and fruits, with more stress on raw and cooked vegetables, and fruits. In case of constipation, all actions should be adopted for its abolition. The patient should avoid foods, such as white sugar; white bread and foodstuffs made from them, as well as meat.

Another home remedy for halitosis is to ensure that a person is well hydrated.
Dehydration is another important cause for halitosis. Certain medications such as medicines taken for blood pressure, anti-depressants etc., slows down secretion of saliva in the mouth and thus cause dehydration. So taking enough water is the best home remedy for halitosis and water should be had after every meal be it light or heavy and especially after having coffee, tea, or soft drinks as these can leave a deposit in the mouth which is one of the reasons for bad breath.
